Master the Art of Pokémon Breeding

Breeding for perfect Individual Values (IVs) is a cornerstone of competitive Pokémon battling. This calculator helps you understand the likely outcomes of breeding two Pokémon together, especially when using key items like the Destiny Knot.

How IV Inheritance Works:

In Pokémon, a baby inherits a total of 3 IVs randomly from its parents' combined 12 IVs (6 from each parent). The other 3 IVs are randomly generated.

  • Destiny Knot: If either parent holds a Destiny Knot, the baby will inherit 5 IVs from the parents' combined pool of 12, with only 1 IV being randomly generated. This dramatically increases the odds of breeding a Pokémon with perfect stats.
  • How to Use the Calculator:

Enter the six IVs (HP, Attack, Defense, Sp. Atk, Sp. Def, Speed) for both Parent A and Parent B. Check the 'Destiny Knot' box if either parent is holding it. The calculator will then show you the possible range of IVs for the offspring, helping you strategize which pairs to breed for the best results.
