Calculate Strokes for Your Match Play Game
In match play, two golfers compete against each other hole-by-hole. To make the game fair when players have different skill levels, the higher-handicapped player receives strokes from the lower-handicapped player. This calculator tells you exactly how many strokes are given.
How It Works:
The calculation is simple: the difference between the two players' course handicaps determines the number of strokes the weaker player receives.
- Enter the full course handicap for Player A.
- Enter the full course handicap for Player B.
The calculator will show which player receives strokes and how many. For example, if Player A is a 10 handicap and Player B is an 18, Player B receives 8 strokes. These strokes are applied on the 8 most difficult holes on the course (those with a stroke index of 1 through 8).
